    facebook-logoSymantec Security Response has detected a new attack targeting China Facebook version, Renren.com. This attack comes in a flash video format promotion disguised as a video clip entitled ‘Wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd.

    Actually, this video is sent from the site looks legitimate. It’s just save ‘time bomb’ in it. These attacks exploit a user authentication cookie has just log in order to send the same link in the flash file to all friends on their list, so that seemed to come from trusted sources.

    With the increasing popularity of social networking site, Symantec Security Response witnessed increased use of multimedia and invitations from colleagues and friends who ‘credible’ to distribute malware.

    “We estimate that cyber criminals will continue to use the popular social networking as a provocation in their attacks,” explained Symantec.

    Internet users were advised to equip themselves with strong security software and updated to avoid a computer virus attack. Always download the applications, documents, programs, software or a codec update from the official website or a reputable source and reliable.

    “And be careful with the social engineering tricks. Trick is often deceive or attract someone to be able to send malicious programs. Remain vigilant when visiting sites that offer free online movie,” added Symantec.
